Vertical Bearing Pumps
Hayward Gordon’s vertical bearing pumps are ideally suited to sump applications for both relatively clean fluids and sumps containing large concentrations of solids. Even large solid sizes can be handled with our recessed impeller wet ends, passing up to a 7” sphere.
Pumps can be supplied in a variety of materials, from the more common cast irons, steels, and 300 series stainless steels to materials for more aggressive environments including duplex stainless steel.
Benefits
Setting lengths up to 24’ can accommodate the deepest of sumps.
- Clean fluids allow the journal bearings to be lubricated with the pumped product.
- Fluids containing solids require a clean water flushing system to each bearing to ensure long dependable service life.
- Some very harsh applications require these bearings to be grease lubricated with automatic re-lubrication.

For applications requiring a shaft seal to the sump, a packed stuffing box or various mechanical seal arrangements are available.
Impeller clearance can be adjusted by easily accessible jacking screws in the thrust bearing housing.
