Livestock Processing

Preparing livestock for food processing is not an easy, quick, or simple job. The processing of livestock requires dependable, durable equipment to ensure the livestock is separated, chopped, mixed, and processed prior to being packaged and shipped out. Pumps and mixers play a crucial role in these food processing applications.

Livestock pump processing is a mixture of reducing solids, passing large solids, and passing delicate solids while ensuring downstream equipment doesn’t clog. Livestock processing applications use mixers for the treatment of water, producing brines, mixing fertilizers, manure waste mixing, dairy farms, and more

Hayward Gordon Group designs and delivers robust, well-built pumps and mixers capable of handling the most challenging tasks in the food processing sector. These pumps transfer animal remains from the kill floor, skinning, and cutting stations with effortless efficiency. They reduce solids sizes, pass thick sludges and delicate materials without damage, and protect downstream equipment. Hayward Gordon food processing pumps are made with easy maintenance in mind: a back pull-out design allows for servicing without disturbing discharge piping or suction.

We manufacture high-performing, long-lasting food grade pumps and mixers, for a wide range of livestock processing uses:

Transferring food waste from beef processing is a challenge for traditional pumps. Many pumps have difficulty moving bones, hooves, hides, hair, and internal organs, resulting in clogs, damaged equipment, and unplanned downtime. Hayward Gordon pumps are designed to meet the challenges posed by such remains.

Large abrasive solids that have no need to be reduced in size can be transferred with the XR Torus Recessed Impeller Pump. Constructed with Super Ni-Hard, an extremely hard and wear-resistant nickel-chromium iron alloy, the Torus features a semi-open recessed impeller. This pump can move abrasive waste material such as feet and bones and solids such as hides that might clog a traditional, solids handling pump.

The ChopX Chopper Pump offers dual-function cutting and pumping, making it the perfect tool for reducing food processing waste products in size. The ChopX excels at cutting and reducing hides, hair, bones, and the like before transferring this animal waste to a rendering facility. By reducing the size of the solids and long stringy material, the ChopX ensures that downstream equipment remains clog-free.

Finished rendering products that require low-shear pumping to maintain product integrity can be transferred with the XCS Screw Centrifugal Pump. By blending the best characteristics of the screw and centrifugal pumps, the XCS can manage a range of items including sludges, stringy material, and delicate matter. Whole soft solids such as hearts, livers, kidneys, and tripe that need to remain intact can easily be transferred with the XCS damage-free. This pump is also capable of moving cattle waste from feedlots to holding tanks for use in fertilizer.

Pumps used in poultry processing applications need to be able to handle bones, beaks, feathers, and other challenging materials. Such waste material presents no difficulties for Hayward Gordon pumps.

As its name implies, the XR Torus Recessed Impeller Pump features a semi-open recessed impeller. Built with wear-resistant Super Ni-Hard, a nickel-chromium iron alloy, the Torus can pump solids up to eight inches in diameter. This pump is an ideal choice for the clog-free transfer of abrasive waste products including beaks, feathers, and feet to rendering plants.

The ChopX Chopper Pump offers dual-function cutting and pumping and is the go-to tool for poultry processing applications involving the reduction of soft solids such as feathers and internal organs. Once the ChopX has chopped and reduced such remains in size, the resulting waste material can be smoothly transferred to a rendering plant.

The unique XCS Screw Centrifugal Pump, which blends the best characteristics of the screw and centrifugal pumps, is well-suited for transferring giblets, livers, and other large soft solids that need to remain intact so they can be processed into animal food. The XCS Pump can also transfer chicken wings for processing and poultry waste from feedlots to holding tanks for use as fertilizer.

Hog/pig processing applications involve an array of tough, abrasive materials that can quickly clog/wear traditional pumps. Hayward Gordon pumps handle pig processing waste material with the same speed and finesse as other animal remains.

The XR Torus Recessed Impeller Pump is built with hardened nickel-chromium iron alloy and features a semi-open recessed impeller. This pump will readily transfer bones, hooves, teeth, hair, and other abrasive solids from the primary slaughterhouse floor.

To reduce the size of pig/hog processing waste material, try the ChopX Chopper Pump, which offers dual function cutting and pumping. By reducing food waste prior to transfer to rendering facilities, the ChopX streamlines processing operations and lowers the likelihood of clogs.

The XCS Screw Centrifugal Pump will transfer livers, stomachs, jowls, and other large soft solids that need to remain intact for processing. Blending the best features of the screw and centrifugal pumps, the XCS can transfer pig waste from feedlots to holding tanks for use as fertilizer and blood/water from sumps to rendering plants without emulsifying the blood.
